INSURANCE CAREER
James began his career in 1992 with Gregg-Miller & Associates, a specialty managing General Agency with a $35 million premium volume. As Vice President of Marketing, he implemented and developed new programs for the Southwest region. During his tenure with Gregg-Miller, James developed the National Hospitality Program and co-developed both the Tow Truck and Home Health Care National Insurance Programs.
Using his background in developing niche insurance programs, James started his own agency, CMI, in April 1994. CMI specialized in niche programs for hospitality venues, convenience stores, used car dealers, contractors and special events.
In 2002, CMI merged with Talent Spalding, a specialized company in meeting the insurance needs of individual entertainers and athletes including Spud Webb, Randy White, and Mookie Blaylock and formed CSI Insurance Management. Since its founding, CSI has become one of the nation's leading entertainment insurance brokers, providing coverage for more than 2,000 concerts and special events annually.
CSI is the national leader in providing insurance for independent concert promoters, live music venues, special events, performing artists, and other specialty programs. Even though our clients include many of the top concert promoters, festivals and venues in the country, we offer insurance programs for entertainment companies of any size. CSI's expertise and credibility has ensured our status as the broker of choice for the production of one of the largest events in American history - the 2008 Presidential Inauguration of President Obama; also insuring the White House Easter Event.
CSI has also placed coverage for some of the country's top live music venues and over 3,000 nightclubs, bars, and restaurants across the United States.
CSI Entertainment Insurance was later acquired by Doodson Global, the world’s largest insurer of music and special events. Initially established in the U.K. as Arthur Doodson Brokers Ltd in 1964, Doodson Broking Group has earned an enviable reputation for service and achieved extensive growth through its global base of clients, making it one of the leading independent specialist insurance brokers in the live music and event industries. The partnership of CSI and Doodson US formed the world’s largest insurance broker for music and special events, with coverage placed by the combined entity extending to over 10,000 concerts, 600 music festivals and 300 touring artists.
Doodson Global has provided risk management services to some of the largest special events, touring artists and athletes in the world, including Lance Armstrong and the Discovery Channel Cycling Team. Most notably, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Austin City Limits Music Festival. Doodson Global has also insured large-scale concerts and tours featuring Muse, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Kenny Chesney, and Ludacris, to name a few.
CANCER SURVIVOR & CO - FOUNDER OF THE LOVE HOPE STRENGTH FOUNDATION
In March 2000, James was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia and was given a 50 percent chance of survival. Only through a generous bone marrow transplant from a German donor was he able to successfully beat cancer. Inspired by his battle, Chippendale launched the Love Hope Strength Foundation in 2006 with co-founder, and fellow cancer survivor, Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band The Alarm. The Love Hope Strength Foundation is the first-ever international, music-centric cancer charity that has provided free treatment to over 50,000 patients around the globe and set up cancer center projects in Nepal, Peru, the U.K. and throughout Africa. Their efforts have translated into more than 30,000 new potential bone marrow donors, over 100 matches and dozens of lives saved. The Love Hope Strength Foundation is now one of the fastest growing cancer foundations in the world, having produced or been involved with over 300 events on all seven continents. Among its major achievements, Love Hope Strength has hosted the first-ever concerts at some of the world's highest points, including Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Fuji, Mt. Snowdon, Pike's Peak, Machu Picchu, Mt. Everest and atop New York City's Empire State Building.
DOCUMENTARY FILM PRODUCER
James has produced two non-profit documentaries that go to support The Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF):
"Everest Rocks" features the LHSF team, musicians, cancer survivors and mountaineers on a musical journey up Mt. Everest to raise money for a local cancer hospital in Nepal and set the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest concert on land. Produced by Alex Coletti in 2008, the documentary made its television debut on Palladia, MTV's elite high-definition music channel, and NBC Universal.
"More to Live For" is an award-winning documentary directed by Noah Hutton, producer and son of Timothy Hutton and Debra Winger, which has played at film and music festivals worldwide. "More to Live For" is the story of three lives, all shaken by cancer and dependent upon the one vital bone marrow match that could save them. The individuals are similar only in their fate and prolific accomplishments: Grammy Award-winning jazz musician Michael Brecker; Seun Adebiyi, a young Nigerian training to become the first ever Nigerian winter Olympic athlete in any sport; and James Chippendale.
TELEVISION CORRESPONDENT
James hosted a two-time, Emmy-nominated lifestyle television segment called "Last Call with James Chippendale" during the sports show "Out of Bounds," which aired on the NBC affiliate in Dallas, TX. The segment showcased athletes, musicians or celebrities and their favorite place to eat, drink, dance, play or hang with friends and family. Some of the celebrities featured on the show include Grammy Award-winning singer Adele, The Saints' Reggie Bush, Kim Kardashian, Indy 500 champion and "Dancing with the Stars" Season 5 winner Helio Castroneves and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin.
SUBJECT OF BAYLOR HOSPITAL ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
James was the subject of a massive television, billboard, print and online marketing campaign for Baylor Hospital Cancer Center. During its two-year run, the campaign generated millions of media impressions.
PUBLIC SPEAKER
James has made more than fifty public speaking appearances on various topics, covering everything from his cancer battle, work with filmmaking, non-profit development to his industry expertise with his music insurance business.

THE MISSION
The Love Hope Strength Foundation is an international, music-centric cancer charity dedicated to saving lives, one concert at a time. The mission is to save lives, right now, with the advances that have already been made in cancer care. We do not fund cancer research, rather we use our funds to:
Build and support cancer centers around the globe
Build awareness of global cancer needs
Build international marrow databases through the "GET ON THE LIST" campaign.
As of 2010, cancer is now the world’s #1 killer and will touch each and every one of us in our lifetime. It is a global issue in need
of support from a worldwide network. In 2007, LHSF was co-founded by leukemia survivors Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band
The Alarm and President of CSI Entertainment James Chippendale who believe that awareness, early detection and proper treatment
should not be a luxury and wanted to find a way to ensure that all people have access to the same resources that saved their lives.
With headquarters in Denver, CO and chapters in Dallas, Peru, United Kingdom and Australia, the Love Hope Strength Foundation has performed concerts on 6 continents in just three year’s time. We led musical pilgrimages to remote venues such as the base camp of Everest, the top of The Empire State Building, the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, the glaciers of Kilimanjaro, the sunrise of Mount Fuji, the Valleys of Rhondda and reached out through the universal language of music. We have also teamed up with DKMS, the world’s largest marrow registry, to expand our reach by conducting bone marrow drives at concerts, music festivals and events in the United States and United Kingdom so that people, like founder James Chippendale himself, can find the match that will save their lives. .Joining the Love Hope Strength Army in the battle against cancer are musicians from every corner of the globe. High school bands and Nepalese folk singers, to legends in rock n’ roll such as members of The Cult, The Stray Cats, Donavon Frankenreiter, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Jason Mraz, Disco Biscuits, Flight of the Conchords, Brett Dennen, Michael Franti, Gin Blossoms, The Fixx, Tokyo Police Club, Squeeze, Candlebox, Seether, Smithereens, Dick Dale, Everclear and hundreds more have done their part to help spread the word through music. Each event is documented under the guidance of critically acclaimed producer, Alex Coletti, to build awareness through programs like Everest Rocks, now airing on MTV’s High Def channel, Palladia and NBC’s Universal Sports.
